With a fresh focus on 2012 the 'new economy' still requires effective marketing.

Recently, I read an article (see ideas page on this website) about a small business who had new competition open up over the road. The business they were in was hair dressing. There seems to be as many hair salons as plumbers so this may give you some fresh insight into your 13 PLUMBER business.

The new hair salon decided to use a strategy of undercutting the existing salon with a sign on the front window '$12 haircuts'. In response the existing hair salon placed a sign on their window 'we fix $12 haircuts'.

How will you deal with your competitors?

A simple and effective idea is to connect with your top 50 clients with a monthly newsletter. Email may suffice however authority may be required so you do not get blacklisted for spamming. Still the best way is a black and white printed paper newsletter. Remember; at the moment your client is reading your printed paper newsletter they are alone....with your message.
  • They may reconnect with you
  • They may refer work to you from friends and family
  • They may enjoy your FREE information
  • They may give you valuable feedback about past experiences - referee
  • They may request work to be done today
